about

This song was inspired by the feeling of freedom I got while reading Mahatma Ghandi's biography called "Great Soul"; the same feeling of freedom which later motivated me to tour the United States by bicycle and still motivates me to this day. We are not alone; and the door to happiness that selfishness closes is the same one that compassion opens.

lyrics

When home is a long way off
and love's left you down and out
When night climbs up on your back
and tears you down

When no friend is left in sight.
The light from your lamp's gone out
and there's no place left to hide
and darlin' there's no way out

And you wanna know
who will take you control
who will take you home tonight

And you wanna go
so you start to roll
but you can't escape 'til it's time

Storm tide will ebb and fade
ripple out to the sun
so here we are and see
we've just begun

So show me those pale blue eyes
alive as the night grows thin
Take me back to that place
Show me what might have been

So he could've been a cheater
he was a liar and a their
and he took all your best love
and he left you on the street
and you say

why, why, why me

You say that you loved him
but it sure don't look that way
Now he's taken all he had and
He ain

and you say "Why?"
you say "Why?"
you say "Why? Why me?"

you say "Why?"
you say "Why?"
you say "Why? Why me?"

You oughta know that you're not alone
At the end of the night you're not alone
You oughta see there's no chain that could set you free
you're a stream that's a flowin' right along

You ought see you can start again
You can strike out on the road, you're not alone.
You oughta see you can be your worst enemy
It's a train you're a'towin' right along

You oughta know that you're not alone
At the end of the night you're not alone.
You oughta see there's no sole possibility
No one direction leads you home
